Verse of The Day
Psalm 105:17-19 he had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. His feet were hurt with fetters; his neck was put in a collar of iron; until what he had said came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him. (ESV)
The Trials Of Joseph, Are We Similar To Him?
As a Christian and a Bible student, we know the fascinating story of Joseph, the slave who rose to become the Prime Minister of Mighty Egypt after spending almost 14 years in jail.
Let’s reflect on everything Joseph endured. His greatest trial wasn’t his rejection by his brothers, being made into a slave, or cast into prison; rather, it was the clear word he received from God. During his childhood, God had revealed to Joseph through dreams that he would receive great authority for the glory of God, that his brothers would bow down to him, and that he would become a great deliverer. Joseph may have envisioned a successful career and political connections, perhaps even becoming a senator, governor, or president. However, God’s ways are different from human ways. To entrust His authority and power, one must undergo rigorous trials to prove their worthiness. Moses spent 40 years in trials. John the Baptist endured 40 days in the wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days, facing temptation from the devil, as seen in many other instances in the Bible
And For You My Dear Youth
What has God promised you? Financial upliftment? Good career upliftment? Good health? Marital Bliss? How many have you achieved thus far? All these things are the things you are hoping to get and one way or the other you might have seen them in your dreams or someone has told you about it, yet you have not seen the manifestation. You should remember the journey of Joseph. He had to battle with the following;
- Forgiveness– first for his brothers for selling him as a slave (You should develop the spirit of forgiveness to those who wrong you)
- Staying Upright And Righteous– You should cultivate strong character and diligence in your workplace, avoiding compromise or cutting corners.
- Staying Away From Sexual Immorality And Things That Grief God– that was why he was able to flee from Portifa’s wife (You should flee any form of sexual immorality and its affiliates)
- Maintaining Pure And Holy Intimacy With God without antagonism even while in prison for an offence he didn’t commit (You should have time for God and worship him always)
Looking at the things listed above we can see that the word of God tried Joseph in so many ways yet Joseph prevailed and that was why God lifted him to a very great height. In Verse 21-22 Speaking about Joseph, the bible says “ He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his possessions, To bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom” Imagine the CEO of your company elevating you above all his councils and asking them to learn from you and take instructions from you. All these were possible because the word of God tried Joseph and found him worthy.
Prayer
May the words of this day inspire us to live a Godly life and just like Joseph may we overcome the temptations that come to us so that we can obtain the blessings God has in store for us through Christ our lord amen.
Overcoming Addiction
I write to you, young men and women, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one (ESV 1 John 2.14)
Remain Blesses Always
