Are You Unwittingly Blaspheming God: Live a Christ-Centered Life

Blaspheming The Name Of God

I am a Christian, which simply means Christ-like yet I bring shame to that name of God because of my lifestyle, is the name of the lord blasphemed? Yes. Who are the gentiles we may ask? In today’s context they are our fallen brethren who are into the world and enjoy the immoral pleasures of this world and, as such have left the way of the lord, Secondly, gentiles are people who don’t believe in our lord Jesus Christ. For the righteous standeth right with God but the unrighteous standeth afar with God. The passage of the bible today is telling us that Instead of us bringing these gentiles closer to God, if we continue sending them to the world by our lifestyle we are blaspheming the name of God.

Hardened Hearts

St. Paul’s words in Romans 1:32 highlight a concerning truth: despite knowing God’s righteous standards, many not only engage in sinful behaviors but also encourage others in these actions. Instead of guiding them toward Christ, we often applaud their wrong choices. This disregard for God’s truth provokes His wrath, as mentioned in Romans 1:18, against all ungodliness and unrighteousness. Further, verse 21 reveals that such individuals, though aware of God, fail to honor Him, leading to darkened hearts and a persistent embrace of sin. This state of mind shields them from seeking forgiveness and repentance, making any sermon or teaching seem ineffective, like water on stone, unable to reach their souls due to their hidden passion for sin.

As Couples

How deeply does your relationship reflect God’s presence? Consider your conduct at work or in your assigned role—how much of God’s values do you exemplify? When a colleague leads an immoral life, do you offer guidance or turn a blind eye? It’s concerning if you applaud such behavior because it’s popular, and it’s even worse if you engage in a relationship with them while knowing you’re married. This not only condones sinful behavior but also normalizes infidelity, undermining the sanctity of marriage and suggesting that emotional attachments outside of marriage are acceptable.

Regarding The Marriage Institution

Going further apostle Paul gave the consequences of this in verse 24 “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions, for their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another”. While some marriages don’t degenerate into same-sex passion but the truth is that whatever we sow we shall reap. The Bible says that whoever you yield yourselves servants to obey the servant of him you have become. Do you want to yield to righteousness and serve God or yield to sin to serve the devil? The choice is up for grabs but we should remember that our choices come with consequences. Sin is pleasurable to the soul but the end is destruction. On the other hand, righteous living comes with disciplinary measures but the end is a happy life, a happy home, a happy marriage, and a fulfilled life. Much more than that you have the chance to spend eternity with King of Kings in His paradise.

As It Affects The Next Generation

Marriage is a foundation for a family tree. The habits couple exhibit today will form part of the DNA of the next generation – the saying that goes “apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”. As parents, if your kids should find out what you have done, will they be proud? Someday God will ask you to give account of the people placed under you, be it kids, friends or even colleagues at work, did you lead them to Christ or did you help them to go astray? Jeremiah 23:1 – “Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord (ESV). Don’t

Prayer

God, I pray that you would make me holy as you are holy. God, help me to hate sin more today than we did yesterday. I give you all myself and my sins  because I want to be healed from the worst sin.
I desire peace and liberation from sin, anxiety, and their accompanying burdens. The journey towards holiness unfolds before me, leading me to become the person You envision. Help me to submit to the work that the Holy Spirit is doing in my life. May my life never blaspheme your name rather may it be the reason to bring you glory. This I pray through Christ our lord Amen.
