Youth Bible Study
Verse of The Day
1 Samuel 3:1 Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord in the presence of Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision (ESV)
1 Samuel 3:19-20. And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. All Israel from Dan to Beersheba came to know that Samuel has been established as a prophet of the Lord (ESV)
God’s Voice
Samuel’s greatness is well-known. Undoubtedly, he was one of the greatest prophets of the Israelites. The first verse of today prompts contemplation, speaking of a time when the word of the Lord was scarce. A practical situation not unfamiliar in our world today. Immorality and false prophets abound, making it seem as though God’s voice is rare. The truth is that its not, we are just not aligning. Does God’s voice guide us as we reflect on our families? or do we wander on our own, facing avoidable hardships?
My Dear Youth Ask Yourself
Why are we discussing Samuel today? This is because the spirit of Samuel remains alive and relevant, capable of bringing glory to God in our lives. Consider the transfiguration of Jesus, where Moses and Elijah appeared and conversed with Him. Although no longer on earth, their spirits continue to play a role in fulfilling divine purposes. This concept echoes in Hebrews 12:22–24, which speaks of spirits of just men made perfect. Maintaining purity, righteousness, and a genuine pursuit of God allows us to commune with heavenly beings. Despite the world’s skepticism, some individuals living on earth possess deep connections in heaven. Their purity and alignment with God’s will grant them friendships beyond earthly bounds. You, too, can emulate Samuel fervently ministering in God’s presence and sharing His word in a world filled with false prophets.
The second verse of the day highlights Samuel’s role as a beacon of light to the Israelites, revered as a great man of God whose words never went unfulfilled You, too, can achieve such stature. The Lord has purposefully placed you where you are, not by chance but to manifest His glory through you, provided you allow Him to work in your life. Like Samuel, you bear a significant name, and your virtues and abilities are not coincidences. Your name can still echo as one whose words come directly from God among your peers, among your colleagues, among your classmates, and your siblings. Your steadfast behavior, ability to dream, and aptitude for explaining complex matters are all part of God’s plan for you if only you could focus on God just like Samuel did.
Be the Conduit
Think about your family, loved ones, and your workplace, they all represent the Israelites barren with the voice of God. They are all like a mobile phone or laptop, you are like a conduit and God is the electricity. The beauty of graphical projections in these gadgets when powered is well-known to us. The level of alignment with God directly correlates with the power of the gadgets around you Just as Samuel served as a conduit for God’s grace to manifest among Israelis so can you be a beacon of light to the world around you. Keep trying, keep pushing and the heavens will open up to you.
Prayer
As you reflect on these thoughts, may the boundless mercy of God rest upon you through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Overcoming Addiction
I write to you, young men and women, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one (ESV 1 John 2.14)
