Cultivating a Heart of Gratitude: Finding Strength in Thankfulness

Youth Bible Study

Verse Of the Day

Psalm 95:1-5 – Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God and the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth, the heights of the hills are His also

Creating a Heart of Gratitude

One of the most powerful emotions is gratitude. If we can find ways to be thankful throughout our lives, we will find the power and emotional strength to walk through some of life’s hardest seasons. It’s not always easy to find ways to be grateful. But, one of the things Scripture teaches us throughout the Psalms is that there is always something to be grateful for.

Learn To Appreciate God

The Psalms teach us various songs and poems for every season of our life. But more than that, they also teach us how to cultivate a heart of gratitude and worship towards God. We are born into a generation that has come to believe that there is no God. Some of us may not be vocal about it but our daily life clearly shows where our allegiance lies. The truth is that We belong to a God who loves us and cares deeply for us. God’s love and goodness will never end. Psalm 100:5 praises God for these things: For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Through Psalms like this, we can begin to build a habit of gratitude towards God and all that He has done. We can thank God for what He has done in our lives, what He is currently doing, and what He will do in the future as we follow Him.

Inside the Jail..

Joseph never knew what God was preparing for him even though it seemed as though God was breaking him. Most of us in today’s world would have stopped going to church or stopped praying or stopped believing in God but Joseph never did. The Psalmist said in Psalm 105 “before their arrival, God sent Joseph ahead of them. Joseph, who was sold as a slave, endured pain as his feet were bound with fetters and he was placed in irons. Throughout this time, the word of the Lord tested him until its fulfillment. Eventually, the king sent for him and set him free, and the ruler of the people released him from captivity”. “Praise the lord always – keep praising him because we may never know”.

And For You My Dear Youth

Because God is always good, loving, and faithful, there is always something we can be grateful for—even in the midst of difficult seasons of life. Take a few moments today to strengthen the habit of gratitude in your life. First, begin by thanking God for who He is: that He is good, faithful, and loving towards you. Next, thank God for all that He has done in your life. Thank Him for the good things in your life, and that He has walked with you through the hard times. Lastly, thank God for all He will continue to do in your life. When you are done with that, open your eyes to the amazing people around you that are worth appreciating. Reach out to them and show some gratitude. In all these Let Christ’s peace guide your hearts, just like He called you to be united. Always be thankful (Colossians 3:15). May these words bring Peace and the spirit of God to our souls through Christ our lord. Amen.

Prayer

Lord, as I reflect on the gifts You’ve bestowed, I am filled with overwhelming gratitude. The love of family and friends, their unwavering support and kindness, are all testaments to Your grace. Thank You.
