Lost & Found: Reflections on Teen & Responsibility

Where Are You

As young people we often get this question from our parents especially when we are out of their reach or have gone somewhere without their knowledge. We get it also from our loved ones too who care about us. Our positive feedback reassures them that there is nothing to worry about. It will be a tragedy if no one has ever asked you such.

In the bible the same question was asked. Adam Where are you? That was God. Could it be that all knowing and all-powerful God couldn’t fine Adam? No, in the case of Adam it was a case of lost glory. God had made Adam and placed in him and on him a certain measure of glory to function and operate. So God measured and monitored Adam via his glory so the moment Adam disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit the bible said that instantly they realized they were naked. Being naked means, they have lost the glory God placed on them, immediately they ran and hid themselves inside the bush. The man who was supposed to rule and subdue the earth has taken refuge under a tree, Shame. Adam and Eve had first hand instruction from God not to eat that fruit but the moment the serpent bargained with them, the pleasurable sight of the fruit and curiosity to explore subdued instruction of God.

Where are You My Dear Little One?

Today, God is reaching out to you. Have you succumbed to peer pressure, indulging in forbidden habits? Has social media led you astray, enticing you with inappropriate content? Have you allowed society to dictate your morals, disregarding God’s guidance? Are your friends influencing your choice of attire? Deep down, we recognize these actions as wrong, so why do we persist? The more we engage in them, the further we stray from God’s glory. Isaiah 59:1-2 warns us that our sins create a barrier between us and God, hindering our prayers. Let’s not repeat Adam and Eve’s mistake; the moral path is clear in God’s instructions.

Is there any Hope?

In as much as God was furious with Adam and Even he didn’t abandon them. After disciplining them with punishment he removed the fig tree clothing they had made and replaced it with animal skin which He had made. The bible never recorded anywhere that God abandoned them. So today, ask yourself, have I messed up big time? God is a merciful God. He said “if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14-16 KJV. Our parents’ instructions are very clear. Don’t let the pleasures of sin and curiosity to explore lead to disobedience.

Prayer

“Father, I often think sin will satisfy the deepest desires of my heart, only to leave me devastated and empty. Help me realize sin overpromises and always underdelivers. The pleasures of sin are fleeting, lasting for a short time.”

Remember God loves you much more than you can ever imagine and waiting for you in open arms to receive you when u pray

Remain Blessed Always
