Verse Of the Day

Isaiah 41.8-13 (ESV)

But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham, my friend; you whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, “You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off”; fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Behold, all who are incensed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; those who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish. You shall seek those who contend with you, but you shall not find them; those who war against you shall be as nothing at all. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

That Ugly Situation Shall Be No More

It’s easy to think that the promises in the Old Testament were only for the Israelites and not for us, the New Testament believers. However, let’s consider this: Before Jesus came, God’s presence among men was manifested through the Ark of the Covenant. During Jesus’ time on earth, God became flesh and lived as one man among us. After Jesus ascended to heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit, making God’s presence dwell within all of us

In the Old Testament, God referred to the Israelites as His servants, but as New Testament believers, we have God living within us through the Holy Spirit, making us children of God. As John 1:12-13 says, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. We are all children of God.” Furthermore, 2 Corinthians 1:20 confirms that “For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.”

And For You My Dear

If God can make such promises to His servants, what about you, child of God? Don’t you think you have an advantage? Today, the word of God comes to you, reminding you that He is the God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. As the all-sufficient God, whatever He promises, He will fulfill. All those negative issues that make you weep and are greatly incensed against you shall be put to shame and confounded. That particular ugly circumstance that has reared its ugly hydra-headed form against you shall be as nothing and shall perish. That impossible and seemingly unapproachable situation that burdens your heart—very soon, you shall seek to contend with it but will not find it. The devil manipulating people and circumstances to war against you shall be as nothing at all.be as nothing at all*

Remember God says in the above reading “for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)

Prayer

Dear God, sometimes I just need to know you care. Show me your love, a place where I can escape the pain. Wash away my anxieties with your peace. When I feel weak and the weight of the world seems too much, be my strength. Grant me the courage to face the future with trust in your plan. When my emotions overwhelm and despair threatens to consume me, be my anchor, pulling me back to hope

Overcoming Addiction

I write to you, young men and women, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one (ESV 1 John 2.14)
