The Last Laugh – Reward of Being Righteous.

Bible Studies For Couples

Verse Of The Day

And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth (Genesis 6: 6-10 ESV)

And Noah Found Favor

We know how the story started and we also know how it ended. The flood indeed came, the earth and it’s inhabitants were swallowed up and all terrestrials living things all died except Noah and his children. The Bible said that in the days of Noah the world was full of corruption, violence, sex and it’s perversions, wickedness in all its forms. Does it seem to be like what we have today? The answer is an empathic yes. But the ultimate question is how was Noah and his family able to escape the wrath of God. The Bible said that Noah found grace because he was righteous. The Bible never mentioned the righteousness of the wife and children but it was only said Noah it means that the wife and children respected and trusted the leadership of Noah.

Noah likely upheld strict standards of righteousness within his family, even amid societal norms that may have differed. His unwavering commitment to the ways of the Lord, despite potential disagreements within his family or societal opposition, reflects his courage and conviction. This steadfastness might have led others, including his wife and children, to question his choices, perhaps seeing him as eccentric or extreme in his beliefs. However, the outcome was undeniably positive. When the flood arrived, Noah’s adherence to God’s instructions proved invaluable. His family, spared from the destruction, likely felt immense gratitude and relief for following his guidance. They may have reflected on the fate of those who did not heed the warning, including their acquaintances and neighbors, realizing how fortunate they were to have obeyed their father’s instructions, even in challenging times.

As Couples

Living in today’s world, where societal norms often contradict God’s commands, presents numerous challenges. Sexual morality has been distorted, with agendas like LGBTQ2+ rights gaining prominence. Religion has been commercialized, with clergy sometimes exploiting their positions for personal gain. Political corruption and violence are rampant, leading to widespread suffering. Despite these odds, God’s power remains unchanged. He requires only a willing vessel to work through.

  • As a couple committed to God, you have the potential to be a beacon of light in your community. Just like Moses with his staff or Jesus with the loaves and fishes, God can use even seemingly ordinary things to accomplish great things.
  • You don’t need to change the entire world. Focus on your “territory” – your family, friends, and neighbors. Live a life that reflects God’s love, compassion, and righteousness. Offer support and encouragement to those around you.
  • Through your actions and your faith, you can inspire others to seek a closer relationship with God. This doesn’t require judgment or condemnation, but a steady example of living out your beliefs.
  • This version removes some potentially offensive language and focuses on the positive power of living a Christ-centered life in a challenging world. It emphasizes the importance of individual action and influence within one’s own community.

Regarding The Marriage Institution

Can you be that Noah family in your community? Can your family be trusted to be part of those that stand up against the society? You know, the children and wife of Noah were not locked up in a tower, they were not locked up in a convent or monastery out of the reach of the society, rather they were raised in the society, they mixed up in the society but the only different was that they were never carried away by the society rather they remembered the instruction and tradition of the family they came from. Noah practiced righteousness, the wife followed and the children keyed in and it became a family tradition and way of life for them. In the evil and corrupt society, they stood up for righteousness and stood up for God. They might have been mocked and laughed at for being archaic and odd/old fashioned but in the end, they had the last laugh sitting inside the boat.

As it Affects The Next Generation

In the bible (Deuteronomy 6.) God admonishes us to make His words a constant part of our lives. That we should teach them to our children, discuss them at home and away, when we go to bed and when we wake up. It might appear orthodox going by what we see in modern civilization, the children might appear odd among their peers. They might be mocked but let us not be disheartened because definitely our children will have the last laugh. Serving God brings rewards. Following God’s commandments leads to benefits. Worshiping and honoring God are fruitful endeavors. And if the children will learn these tradition from their parents for sure a day will come when they will be as happy as children of Noah inside of the boat.
