Youth Bible Study
Verse Of the Day
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (ESV)
Rest for the Weary
Are you overwhelmed by an incredibly heavy burden? Do you feel like you’re carrying a massive load all alone? Are there wounds and worries that are dragging down your soul? It doesn’t have to be this way. Jesus is inviting you to find rest today. Seek Him, and you will discover the rest you need
Operate From The Place Of Rest
Jesus didn’t mean for you to approach Him and do nothing. He didn’t suggest quitting your job, abandoning your life, and isolating yourself. It’s not about being idle; it’s about finding rest and then working from that place of rest. The concept of a yoke, used to connect two animals for agricultural tasks like plowing or hauling, illustrates the strength found in partnership. Jesus’ reference to the yoke indicates that there’s work to be done, but we don’t have to tackle it alone. This analogy also points to the burdensome religious laws imposed on the Israelites during Jesus’ time. His teachings emphasize love for God and others, leading to a path of spiritual fulfillment and operating from a place of inner peace.
He Knows and He Cares
In our present world, Jesus isn’t oblivious to the yoke around our noses. The difficulties we face daily trying to survive. The things we have to do daily to put food on the table. The struggles of a righteous person to stay moral in a world filled with corruption and immorality. In Jesus, we have a Savior who is humble and gentle, whose compassion is deep, and whose love is wide. He is so wild about us that He left the glories of heaven and became human to suffer and die—so that we might live. We must draw near to the One who carried the biggest burden of all—the sin and rebellion of the world. The One who conquered death and defeated the grave will eventually redeem all things. once and for all. He is calling today. Let us endeavor to heed this call.
And For you My Dear Youth
God longs for us to come close, to fall in step beside Him, and to lean into His grace. Why? Because we thrive when we live and work from a place of genuine rest. He’s inviting you to come. Will you? If you’re not sure where to start, simply ask Him for help.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus. You Know exactly what I need. You know where I am suffering and hurting. And you are gentle with me. You want me to approach you, and give you my concerns. So here I am – I need you, and I want you. Please carry these burdens with me, and give me your rest in return. Amen*.
Overcoming Addiction
I write to you, young men and women, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one (ESV 1 John 2.14)
